Migraine BlackoutThe Problem: Migraine affects more than 39 million people in the U.S. alone–75% of whom are women–but their pain is consistently overlooked and under-treated. And thanks to challenging insurance and prior authorization systems, it’s even harder for people to access the treatment they need.
The Ask: Make people see migraine for the serious neurological condition that it is and encourage migraine sufferers and allies to take action for system reform.
The Solution: We realized no one was noticing when women pushed through their migraine pain. So we made them disappear.
For five days, migraine sufferer and actress Kat Dennings went dark and archived all of her social media posts. While people speculated about her disappearance, we used that buzz to shine a light on the real impact of migraine and drive people to send letters to Congress calling for step therapy reform.
